A lunar module rests on the stark, rocky surface of the moon, surrounded by craters and mountains. This two-stage spacecraft, utilized in the historic 1969 moon landing, comprises a descent stage and an ascent stage. The descent stage remains on the lunar surface while the ascent stage ferries astronauts back to the orbiting Apollo command module.
