LeBron Keeps Lakers Guessing

LeBron James has left the Los Angeles Lakers in limbo after dodging questions about his future with the fallen NBA giants.

The 39-year-old faced an uncertain offseason after the Lakers were dumped out of the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets on Monday night.

And when quizzed on whether he'll opt out of the final year of his $51.4million contract, the noncommittal King simply said: "I don't have an answer."

James refused to be drawn on if he'd played his last game for the Purple and Gold, bluntly responding: "I'm not going to answer that."

Instead, the four-time NBA champ said his focus would turn to suiting up for Team USA at the Paris Olympics this summer.

He added cryptically: "We'll cross [my Lakers future] when we need to."

It's a nervy waiting game for Lakers top brass after their aging roster failed to meet sky-high expectations once again.

Head coach Darvin Ham is already on the chopping block after just two seasons at the helm.

While LeBron mulls an opt-out to become a free agent, team-mate D'Angelo Russell was similarly evasive when asked about his $18.7m player option.

In a season of disappointment for the fallen LA giants, rising star Austin Reaves offered a rare ray of light by backing the front office to run it back with James and Russell.

He said: "If there's anything I can do to help be possible, that's what I'll do. Because I believe in what we have."

The Lakers will be praying their legendary talisman LeBron feels the same way when he finally breaks his silence.

With his 40th birthday looming in December, the clock is ticking for the King to deliver one more reign in LA before his gilded career is over.
