Winds of Change: Harry and Meghan Get a Refresh on the Royal Website

A subtle but significant shift has taken place on the official Royal Family website. The individual biographies for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been given the royal wave goodbye, replaced by a singular, unified profile.

This change comes after the couple's well-publicized step back from their senior royal roles in January 2020. The new bio acts as a snapshot of their lives, acknowledging their past contributions. It highlights Prince Harry's decade-long dedication to the British Army and his inspiring initiative, the Invictus Games. It also throws back to Meghan's impressive acting career, spanning seven seasons on the legal drama Suits, and her former lifestyle blog, The Tig.

This website refresh appears to be just one piece of a larger puzzle for the Sussexes. In February, they quietly unveiled their new website, sussex.com. It's a hub for their current endeavors, featuring updates on their work and a direct link to their philanthropic organization, Archewell Foundation, as well as Archewell Productions.

The launch of sussex.com wasn't met with universal praise across the pond. Some segments of the British press accused the couple of clinging to their royal status through this rebranding effort. Prominently displayed on the website are their "Sussex" titles, a wedding day gift from Queen Elizabeth, and Meghan's coat of arms, which incorporates Prince Harry's crest.

Undeterred by the criticism, a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly addressed the backlash in a statement to The Mirror. "This isn't the first time they've faced scrutiny," the statement explained. "Despite constant challenges, they persist in working towards what they believe in." Highlighting their unwavering commitment, the statement concluded, "This couple will not be broken."

Meanwhile, whispers are swirling about a potential new project in the works for Meghan. According to a trademark application, she might be seeking permission to venture into the world of lifestyle products. Think cookbooks, homeware, and even jarred food items — themes that echo the content she championed on The Tig before closing it down in 2017 as her relationship with Harry blossomed.

With a refreshed presence on the royal website and a potential new venture on the horizon, it's clear that Harry and Meghan are forging their own path, one click and project at a time. They're a couple carving their space in the world, website and all, and it'll be fascinating to see what this new chapter holds for them.
